Frosty Chickadee I love birds and love to watch the Chickadees on my deck. I wanted to make this card showing a Chickadee in the winter snow. I took the reference photo last year on a very chilly day and this little guy was all puffed up with spiky feather, trying to stay warm. He made for a perfect image to paint.
Poinsettia I have wanted to paint a poinsettia for quite sometime, I found a sketch that I had made a couple of years ago and I thought it would make a good painting. I touched the sketch up a little and started to paint. I wanted to show highlights and shadows to give it a more 3D look.
Oh! JOY!!! This moose image has been inside my head for several years. When I decided to do Christmas cards I knew my moose would finally make a showing. I grew up in rural Idaho and saw quite a few moose and was even chased by one. They are one of my favorite animals and yes, I have a great respect for them and how they can move.

Christmas Birdhouse I couldn’t figure out what to make for my 6th Christmas card. I was watching the birds on my deck, and I have wanted a birdhouse on my deck for the birds. That is when I knew I could design one for my cards. I wanted to add fruit and berries that they could eat. Of course a red bow or two would be good.
Blue Jay in Winter I took the reference photo for this one after we had gotten about 6 inches of snow and he was perched on the lower rail of our deck and the snow was piled on the rail up above his neck. His head was turned so he could see to one side, and I knew that at some point I wanted to paint this gentleman.
Merry Christmas Balls I wanted to try something round to give it a 3D look with shading and highlights. After painting the balls to where I was happy, they needed something more. So I added the holy and berries for Christmas, but it still needed something. I played with the background and then flicked paint all over. I really enjoyed making this one.
